September Notes from North Carolina I don’t know about you, but here in North Carolina the weather is still clinging to summer—hot, dry, and determined. Even so, the promise of cooler days is just around the corner. Pumpkin spice has officially re‑entered the chat, and the trees are starting to show their true colors. They’re beautiful in that quiet, early‑autumn way. Life in boxes, however, is not beautiful. I spent three hours the other day looking for my can opener. Three.

Summer is coming to a close. It’s been an emotional month in every sense. As I prepared to sell my house, we lost a dear loved one. She will be missed. May God bless the family she left behind, and may our hearts find healing in her absence. But as one door closes, another opens. We attended a beautiful wedding last weekend, and it was good to smile again... a ceremony filled with love and hope. Our move date was moved up to next week, so... no rush… no panic… yeah, right!!!

A birthday month full of change, creativity, and deep writing This July has been all about DBI, and writing this book has pushed me into some intense emotional places. If you have read Trial by Starlight, you already know Faber’s story begins on Earth, where he is labeled Unwanted and brought to Polaris anyway. He is a young man searching for the family he never had and the life he was meant to live. In the end, he almost gets it, until a piece of information he was never mea
