The start of a new year always brings a mix of reflection and anticipation, and stepping into 2026 has been no different. This past year held moments of joy, challenge, and unexpected turns — the kind that reshape you quietly, then all at once.

One of the hardest moments was saying goodbye to Buddy, the sweet soul who inspired my Nichols INK logo and walked beside me through so much of my creative journey. Losing him left a quiet space in our home. But in that space, we found room for new joy. Jake, our goofy, bright‑eyed fur baby, joined our family and immediately filled the house with laughter again. It’s amazing how quickly a new heartbeat can change the energy of a home.

Where Trial by Starlight Stands Now

On the writing front, Trial by Starlight is nearly through final edits, and this stage has been one of the most rewarding. Thanks to thoughtful beta reader feedback, a brand‑new chapter was added, one chapter was split in half, and Chapter Nine received a full lift‑and‑shift to strengthen pacing and emotional impact. The story is sharper, deeper, and more immersive than ever, and I can’t wait for you to experience it.

ARC sign‑ups are officially open, and we’re gearing up for an April launch. Early February will also bring something special: the Kickstarter. One of the rewards includes the chance to name a character in the book, which has been a fun surprise to share with readers. More details will be rolling out on social media soon.

It’s shaping up to be a big year, and I’m grateful to have you here at the start of it.

Read Trial by Starlight Early

I’m thrilled to announce that Trial by Starlight releases in April 2026.

If you love epic fantasy adventures, you can read it early by joining the Polaris ARC team. I’m opening 100 ARC spots for readers who want to dive into the world before launch and help shape the release with their reviews.

The Unwanted. The Ranger. The Witch.

A portal fantasy with an unwanted outsider, deadly academy trials, a crumbling magical power structure, and a low‑romance, character‑driven story.

Spots are limited, and approvals will be announced in late February.

Indie Author Spotlight

Each month, I spotlight indie authors whose work deserves more eyes — and this month brings two very different voices with stories that linger long after the last page.

On one side is Seth, whose YA fantasy adventure sweeps readers into quests, danger, and unexpected courage through his Rhinehart Chronicles. His third book is on the horizon, and fans of classic adventure fantasy will find a lot to love.

On the other side is Olga, whose lush paranormal romance blends spice, trauma, and found family in her Shades of Fairhaven series. Her work brings emotional depth and beautifully messy characters to the forefront.

Whether you’re craving epic fantasy or a vampire love story with real heart, both authors offer something special.

Thanks for taking a look back at this archived newsletter. It’s a snapshot of where the year began and the creative momentum that followed.
